Christmas 2009

Our Christmas this year started with Poppy and Gigi arriving at our house the day before Christmas Eve. We helped unload the car and stacked all our presents up under the tree. Brad, Wendy and Aaron came over to visit soon after Poppy and Gigi got here. We visited with them for a little while then sat down for a wonderful chili dinner. After dinner we quickly got ready for bed because we had a huge morning ahead of us on Christmas Eve. We were having BREAKFAST with SANTA!!

One of the restaurants on the Kemah boardwalk called The Aquarium was hosting an event called Breakfast with Santa. We were going to eat with Santa and watch him swim in the tank with the fish and then come around to each table and see the kids individually. It was the neatest thing I have ever been to. Soon after we got there Santa appeared in the tank swimming with all the fish and posing for pictures with the kids and families. The boys were so hilarious when Santa was in the tank. They would not turn their backs to the tank at all. They didn't want to put their backs to Santa. The only way we could get a picture of them with Santa in the tank was with Gigi holding on to them. Reagan loved the whole thing. She just stood there waving and watching Santa swim around. After Santa was done in the tank he came out and went around the whole restaurant table by table talking to the kids and posing for pictures with them and their families. We had a delicious breakfast and the kids loved getting to talk to Santa one on one. It was so neat- at one point Chuck said he felt like we had our own personal Santa. He really spent a lot of time with us. Once he had gone to each table he went and sat in his big chair and the kids could have more pictures taken sitting in his lap. This was one of my favorite things we did this year.

After eating with Santa we went home and Reagan and Gigi made sausage balls and we just hung out around the house. We got ready late that afternoon to head to candlelight service at church. When that was over we came home and sprinkled our reindeer food around and got our cookies and milk ready for Santa then we headed to bed so Santa could come and see us.

Christmas morning:

Reagan woke up around 6 ish and by 6:30 we were talking a little loud to try and stir Landon. When he woke up the kids headed down stairs to see all of their new toys. They must have been really good this year because they got lots of toys. Landon got a new four wheeler, a weed eater, some trains, a bulldozer and some trucks. Reagan got a new American girl doll, a wardrobe holder and lots and lots of accessories to go with her doll. She got a new CD player and Littlest Pet Shop stuff. They had a blast playing with their toys while we waited for Brad and Wendy and Aaron to come over and open all of our presents. We had a great time opening presents and spending time together. After naps took place we all went over to Brad's to let the kids ride their new four wheeler and truck (Aaron got a new Ford truck from Santa). They loved riding all in the road.
When we finally got too cold we headed inside to finish up Christmas dinner. Wendy's parents were in town also so we all sat down and had a delicious dinner with all the fixins.

We finished up our holidays just spending time together around the house and around town. We are very grateful that Poppy and Gigi choose to travel to where we are to celebrate Christmas so we don't have to try and pack up all of our stuff and the kids stuff and presents. On the last night they were here we celebrated Poppy's 60th birthday. We got him an ice cream cake and all the kids sang to him and we gave him our presents. While it won't be the same as being with him on his birthday we still wanted to celebrate with him early.

Here are our pictures from Christmas day and the days that follow:

I can't believe the holidays are over already and that both of my kids are about to celebrate another birthday. January is birthday/anniversary month in our household so expect many updates to come.
